Helix-House 3A: The Helix-Slice-House, A Squared Design

In chapter 3, the Helix-House Design, the basic approach by Codism with harmonic functions to the Helix-House family is demonstrated. Or even more, proclaimed as an new way, opening the mind, revolutionary to the square and cube dominated architecture. In this chapter, a bridge from Codism as creative tool to the standard, comfortable design tools used in todays architecture is build.

A helix-like design is achieved by horizontal curved segments of the building and straight rising segments to gain hight. To achieve this in the basic code for the outline, we split and flatten the helix of chapter 3 in two (or more) curved segments, separate them and connect them by rising, linear parts with cube-shaped-appartments in steps. By this method we can create a Helix-Slice-House, similiar to the "Scheibe", as it was classified by Hassenpflug, leaving the "Punkt"-approach  of the Helix-House.

The code for the outline developped with the elements of the initial code in chapter 3 is shown below:

The resulting picture of the outline of the Helix-Slice-House shows the flat curved ends with 4 segments and the inclined connections for simplicity without the apparment in steps.

I would like to present this outline as a blasphemic attack to the iconic cube of the Unitée d'Habittation nearly 100 years old, forming generations of architects of testified by Hassenpflug and his "Scheibe".

It could be oriented with most of its appartments to the east or the west. However, by the open interior of the Helix-Slice-House the human feeling of the access to the appartement and the impressions on the location of the appartemnet are completely different. The main intention of the helix design is the possibility of the access to the appartement without an elevator by walking or by a vehicle as a bike, an  electric bike or even a small battery-electric car. And more, this acces is not in  a closed tube without view, it is in the open interior of the helix, offering an open view to the architecture and the inside, a garden with trees and a hanging garden in the building. Another opportunity to get away from "beton brut" of the history is the use of wood and wood compounds wherever possible. Finally I believe, we must use the Helix-Slice-Approach to overcome the past in any detail.
